I want to look into some new, less yellow headlights for my C30. I know Sylvania makes all of the Silverstar and ultra bright lights, but from everything I read, they last less than a year; especially on my car which has DRL. Any good bright long lasting lights the oppo-verse can recommend?

Sylvania Silverstar Ultra I’ve use the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs in the Passat and they last about 1.5 - 2 years. We also have DRL but don’t drive a lot, maybe 22,000 km/year. Not the cheapest option, but they work well.

In December, I will be on year number 4 for my Silverstars...

Silverstar size H11 is your best bet if you don’t want to go to full xenon

I know people who are on their 5th year with Silverstars, and their car has drls. I'd say just go with them honestly.

I’d say go with the Silverstar Ultra. They’re extremely bright for a plain old halogen bulb and give off a nice white light rather than yellow or blue.

Depends on the line of Silverstar. The Xtravisions are brighter than stock but don’t last as long, and the Ultras and the ZXEs are both very bright but don’t last long. I think the Longlifes have a two year manufacturer warranty, but I don’t think there’s a major difference in brightness.

I’ve had good luck with Silverstar Ultras and recently have tried the Philips X-Treme Vision bulbs. These seem to be brighter, but not spectacularly so. I’ve had them for 11 months with no complaints.

I’d go xenon if I could find a set of oem ones for my car! I don’t want to install them and deal with a diy kit

If you have the money, LED headlights perhaps:

Amazon actually has them on sale for $35 for the pair.. but it was just the reviews that scared me

I’v heard mixed things. Some people say that they don’t project as far down the road otherwise I would love the bright white they emit

front wiring harness will not allow you to do OEM HID. Aftermarket is your only bet.

...Well now you’ve broken my heart! Oh well... Silverstar it is!
Oh, and by the way, resonator delete...would it void a warranty?

Either this:

or get a complete conversion kit from Morimoto (relays, harnesses, ballasts, etc)
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/hid-systems.ht…
I have LED headlights from SuperbrightLEDs on my xB, and a Miromoto HID kit on my Mazdaspeed3. If the LED headlights would have fit on my Speed, I’d run those, but they didn’t do I went with the Morimoto HIDs and haven’t looked back.

had these on my Supras and xB for years. GREAT bulbs, but they don’t last too long.

lo not sure, but I bet it will sound awesome!

I read somewhere that the big issue was that they don’t emit a wide beam of light and aren’t good for long distance... I guess you don’t have that issue

Just makes it sound a bit more evil!

I live in the city that’s always well-lit. I agree they’d definitely be better with some projectors, but as for being seen, they’re awesome. And plug and play!

Try them out, that’s a good price. Even if you replace a pair once a year, it’s only $35 per year.
